From My Airport Terminal to Yours..

Good evening everyone!

Tonight I am blogging from the floor in Midway Airport in Chicago. I have 2 hours until my plane is here so I have plenty of time to tell you about my airport experience thus far. ( I have been here for an hour, better early than late.)

My Aunt Cissy brought me to the airport, because is she a wonderful person. She explains everything for me and how everything is going to go down and I have read all of the FAQ s on Southwest because I get nervous when I don't know what is going on. You could have quizzed me earlier today and I could have mapped out Midway for you, but the moment I walk into Midway I forget everything. I stood in a line to find out its for people with boarding passes who are checking there luggage. I have neither. So I quickly pretend like I was asking the worker a question. "Where do I print my boarding pass?" (good cover) I printed my boarding pass so quickly I second guessed myself . I got scared then metrosexual man behind me asked, " you done, or do you still need your boarding pass?" I just looked at him said I'm good then left.

Next step figuring out to go left or down... I followed the pro looking traveling lady in front of me. Let me tell you about my hero. She was about 5'7'' sandy blonde hair and she looked like her next step was to a mountain not security in an airport. She had a pinkish purple vest. Everything she did, I did. She saved me. When I got to security and they checked my boarding pass my older security lady wanted to know if I was with a group of girls I answered no and she said "good, too chatty and they never listen when you say one at a time!" (damn girls) I dislike these girls because they make my older friend cranky. Then I had to go through the screening part the people ahead of me were naughty and kept having water bottles and such in there bag. That was my expert after this point she stopped being my expert. By the looks of her, her name was Rhonda. Rhonda and I after this point were no more. She disappointed me. I did everything I need and got through security. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be.

I found my gate ( so I thought and sat down across from it and watched the people.) And this is what I observed:

The Moving Walkway
I sat by a moving sidewalk for a very long time, and it would say, "the moving sidewalk is...". It would never finish its sentence so I can't tell what the moving walkway is. So sorry.
Also small children loves this thing. If your toddler is cranky, put it on the walkway and let them run on it. It's like crack to the kiddies.

Middle School Travelers

Cool calm and collected is the middle school traveler. Middle schoolers in the airport are like pros. There were about 4 or 5 groups of them (not together) just roaming by the gates and food places. They didn't flench that they were alone. They just got on their plane like it was nothing. I hate this because I was scared about traveling and I am 24! Bull Farts, that's dumb!

The Strutter

I was entertained frequently by this high school/college aged girl you kept using the sidewalk next to me as her personal runway. She never just walked to McDonald's or the bathroom but she strutted. I judged her walk and he style. She would never make it. Too big of steps and too much arm movement. Simplistic thinking is the way to go my young Paulina Porizkova. Just let the walk flow naturally. She was a favorite of mine.

Christian Basketball Girls

Being a bballer in a christian school at one point in my life I became proud of the high school bball team having fun with each other. They sat around and giggled and wooed and ahhed over texts from boys while eating thier McDonald's. They were cool and fun girls. They were polite too. They said please and thank you to the McDonald's workers, which was very nice but not taken nicely by the angry McDonald's workers. Anyways, I enjoyed them.

Ok I have just made an ass out of myself. I tired to sit in the chairs by my gate, but there was no outlet to charge my phone so I went back to my spot on the floor across the way from my gate. 30 minutes later they load up the plane before mine and I found a seat! Then realize I am not at the right gate at all. So, I circled to the other side, tried to find a seat at my new gate... It was a no go. So I just stood there looking stupid and having people stare at me like I would them. I just went back to my spot on the floor.

Ok everyone I found a seat at my gate and they are loading now! Have a Merry Christmas!!!

Thanks for Laughing

Hello everyone! Today I have something special for you, something so wonderful you will smile. I am going to let you laugh at me today.

First, I would like to share some text messages between myself and my friend, Morgan. To setup this short string of texts up, we had been out celebrating our friends' graduation. We had maybe had some beverages. Morgan and I got seperated and this is her trying to get me to meet her at a different place.

12:49am
Morgan:Comr to welch ave. Big table. no cover.
12:53am
Me: Sandwich
12:55am
Morgan:hahahahaha. Come to wench ave after
12:55am
Me: Kk i udnbp9

I don't think I needed to explain where I was. Apparently by saying, "sandwich" she knew I was safe and with people that were nice enough to buy me a sandwich. "no worries, she has a sandwich. she is fine." I would like to say we had a great time. The next day, after we woke up and got moving for the day, we even went to Ihop. GREAT meal. I ate way more than my body should have allowed. After we went back to my apartment we watched haunted history, the worst show on television, and took a nap. Great times. Thank you Morgan.

Now today, there is 2 things you all need to know: I won a radio contest and I accidentally sent the wrong person an email.

1. I won a radio contest. Today I got a phone call at work. It was a Des Moines number around 10am. I got nervous thinking Kyle has blown up the apartment. BUT I remember I had entered a contest and to win I just had to answer the phone by saying MERRY CHRISTMAS or HAPPY HOLIDAYS. So, I answered by saying Happy Holidays. I did it nervously though, because if it was my eye doctor or someone else I would sound like a jackass. Then a lady said congratualtions Amanda you just won! I WON!! I even said "for realises?" to the lady on the phone. I was very excited. If I was on the radio I sounded stupid because I am losing my voice and I said "for realises, wow! and awesome".

You know what I won? A climb package at Climb Iowa. Rock climbing?! That's a great prize, for someone who:
1. doesn't get hurt all the time
2. isn't related to my mom, Cathi or my grandma, Sharon
3. doesn't scream when they are learning new sporting/ physical activties

I will keep you updated on the rock climb. I am sure it will be epic!

2. Tomorrow is my wonderful husband's birthday, so I decided I would send him a hilarious e-card. What do I do? I find one that explains about using the toilet and you will have a productive day only if you are having a good pooping day.

This is where it gets bad. His email is his last name then his first initial. I sent it to his first initial then his last name... in other words, someone I don't know at all got an email from me explaining how using the toilet is good and being regular is awesome. If you know me at all, this is a very risky card for me to send. I don't like talking about bathrooms or what you do in them. It grosses me out. Honestly it's disgusting.

If, by chance, you are the person I emailed this card to, I am sorry if you are offended. If you are not and you want to be my friend, email me back. You never know in 10 years we could look back and laugh.

Here is the card:

Birthday Wishes

My friend, Danielle's birthday was on Saturday. Birthdays are so important to me and I think everyone should be noticed on this special day to the point its annoying. SO, after Natalie helped light a candle for the brownie I found in the break room, I asked Danielle what I should blog about tonight and she didn't want to be a part of it so I decided to write her a Haiku poem in her honor.
Laughing, Smiles
That dog is wearing pants
Perfect Birthday

I hope you enjoyed that Danielle it was only for you. Happy Birthday child. I hope it was annoying :)

Exciting! WOW! That's Great!

I started a blog today then I looked outside and I saw snow. SNOW! I am very happy about this. Now there is a purpose to the cold. Here are the reasons snow is my favorite:

1. It makes everything seem pretty and scenic. There could be a raccoon in the trash and with snow you would say, "aww, that raccoon looks so picturesque on the mountain of snow forming on the trash can." Mostly, it's just pretty.

2. It's acceptable to throw it at someone.

3. Dangerous sports are acceptable. Sledding, skiing, snowboarding, hockey, ice skating. You can get some good stories out of these dangerous sports like the time Kyle ramped my head with a sled.

4. Hot chocolate and coffee become an everyday necessity. I guess yes you can drink it when it is just cold but when you are holding your cup of coffee looking out at the snow is just better.

5. I get to start watching all my favorite Christmas movies. I don't think it is acceptable to watch "White Christmas" without snow. At the end of the movie, I find it unfair that they get snow and we still don't have any.

Basically I love snow and without it there isn't any point to the cold. So love it and if I hear you diss-ing snow or complaining about it I will throw snow at you, which is acceptable.

ENJOY the snow Des Moines!

Today will be known as MUSIC MONDAYS!

Hey everyone! Today is special because its MONDAY! I truly hate Monday but I like music so let's make Mondays better by telling you all about music I love right now. I found these all off my Pandora and Groove shark so I am sure these songs have been out for awhile but they are new to me, so don't tell me that these are old, because guess what I already know and don't care. Let's just listen and love them.

The Black Keys - Tighten Up

Great Song, Great video. He smells like ranch dressing.

Arctic Monkeys - Fluorescent Adolescent

Love this song. It's wonderful. P.S. if you hate clowns watch out the video is weird.

Coldplay - Fix You

Good Sad Song.

Vampire Weekend - Holiday

I just found this today. I kinda like it. But the video, not so much.

Last but not least:

Death Cab for Cutie - Follow you into the Dark

It's a very nice song. I got chills from hearing it the first time.

Enjoy. Good night my darlings.

Just another Sunday morning.

Today is going to be a special post, a post about my dream I had last night, and the reasons I think lead to the weird dream I had.

The Dream: It is a nice day out and I am sitting on a porch swing with my sister Rachael and her dog Addi, but it wasn't Addi. S
he is a black lab and is hyper like a puppy, but the dog in my dream was a HUGE white dog with long hair and she was very mellow. I liked this dog and I would suggest that Rachael trades in Addi for this other dog. Anyways, we were sitting there just staring when Rach just gets up and runs into the lake, for no reason. I run after her and start to go into the lake then realizing I had my phone in my pocket and I take it out. What you are probably thinking is that I threw the phone onto the shore, but then you would be wrong. I take my phone and throw it into the lake. Thinking that I actually did this, I woke up in a panic looking for my phone. I then decide to try and find my phone at 7 in morning while everyone was still asleep. Don't w
orry it wasn't at the bottom of a lake, it was in my coat pocket.

Reasons:
1. I haven't talked to Rach in awhile, maybe it was telling me to call her.
2. Addi doesn't like me, Rach needs a nicer dog.
3. Subconsciously I knew my phone was not with me and I felt lonely. I have to have my phone with me even when I sleep.
4. Danielle, Amanda and I were drinking wine. Enough said.

Great thought of the day: Thank you to Sarah P. for the package I got yesterday! It was amazing complete with Lisa Frank coloring book.

Yelp, Here we go!

Hello blogging world! It's me and I am ready for this. I kept trying to plan what I would blog about first and forever, so I decided that I like to obsess over things and most of my blogs will be about what I am in love with at the time. I will throw in wonderful things about my life and the random stuff I am thinking about. I have 1 very important thing to talk about today. Are you ready?

I love college basketball. I don't watch many games, but I have picked my top 3 teams to follow.

#1 Wake Forest: I have liked them since high school. I use to be the Demon Deacons when I would play NCAA football--mascot style. I won every time I would play.

#2 Georgetown Bulldogs: I think I have a sweatshirt from that school and they beat Iowa.

#3 And finally, this was a toss up between Uconn and Michigan St., I really still can't decide. Here is my comparison list.
Mascot: Pay-pay is their mascot, of course I will pick UCONN.
Colors: I love green, blue is boring.--Michigan St.
Record: UCONN beat Michigan St.
Standings: 6 is lower than 9. Duh.
Head coach: His name has 4 letters. 2 are vowels, 2 are z's. Hands down Michigan St.
Better town: I don't know about either town. New England is prettier. UCONN
Temp: it's warmer in UCONN. Enough said.

I guess my 3rd team is UCONN. This means I will be dressing Pay-Pay for the basketball games. Yes Billy, I picked your team over Danielle's. Sorry Danielle.

I read ESPN and learn about my teams. I will be a pro about my picks. We will see, my darlings.

Random thought: True Blood is amazing. I cannot stop watching this horribly written show. This is crazy. I love it.

My last note on this is something I saw Sarah P.'s blog. The pine cone is back and in full force!
